Well this is a nice surprise. The Exit 8, a horror-tinged walking sim that released on PC last year, has suddenly popped up on PS5 and PS4. It's available to buy right now, priced at £3.29 / $3.99.
"You are trapped in an endless underground passageway. Observe your surroundings carefully to reach "The Exit 8", reads the official description. It doesn't get much more straightforward than that!
Hideo Kojima's legendary P.T. demo is a decent point of comparison if you're wondering what The Exit 8's all about. You're essentially tasked with walking through the same corridor over and over, as strange, otherworldly occurrences start unfolding before your eyes. Needless to say, it gets a bit weird.
The Japanese-developed title enjoyed a surge of popularity when it released in 2023, thanks to it being picked up by a number of influential streamers and YouTube channels. While the hype did die down quite quickly — as it usually does — The Exit 8 remains highly rated, with a 'Very Positive' reception on Steam.

This seems like it has a roughly 70% chance of giving me nightmares. Maybe I’ll try it!
@BeerIsAwesome
These games are made for VR. To the point I don’t know if I’d consider them outside save now (although that goes for racers and platformers too - I’ve been spoilt ☹️ )
Edit: so it’s quest only for now? I’ll wait or miss it then.
@BeerIsAwesome
Indeed. I envy you having yours just come, so many great experiences still to have.
This isn’t one of them even if it hits PSVR2, but I’d get it just to walk around and read the Japanese signs, lol. I’m trying to learn the language at the moment. Plus it’s only a few quid.
Guess they got fed up of the knock off thats been on sale on released the real one
Well, for that price (and its reputation), I’ll be buying that in a minute
For anyone as momentarily confused as I was-- The Exit 8 has nothing to do with The Exit 9, which is the Stumble Guys version of The Exit 8. The Street 10 is not by the same developer as The Exit 8, but is heavily inspired by The Exit 8 and is considered an homage more than a ripoff. So, I'm grabbing The Street 10 and The Exit 8 for a total of $5.78. Not bad.
Sounds like an interesting time. Can’t beat the price. Definitely might check it out
Konami really missed a trick with PT. Here we are 9 years after delisting, and a 2 hour teaser experience is still being used as a point of comparison.
Played on pc, good game and definitely worth a go. Sod all like P.T though
@BeerIsAwesome nah it's a totally different developer. Exit 8 is good
There's a VR version on Quest 3. I rather get it for PSVR 2 but all i see is pancake on PS5. No VR no buy
I was literally looking up when the release date of The Exit 8 for playstation was gonna be only 2 days ago and suddenly it's here! Ever since Jacob Geller's fantastic video on it (which I think is a Nebula exclusive, so it's not on YouTube unfortunately, otherwise I'd link it) I've been really desperate to play it. People are right when they say a VR version would be even better. But maybe they'll do that as a free update down the line. Either way it's only a few quid, so it doesn't really matter.
I think the store is very dodgy. Example: I’m a rally nut and i tried to buy the WRC 9 DLC. I know there is DLC for this game but it’s nowhere to be found anymore….
I like the gameplay vids on Youtube! I’m thinking of getting it. And indeed, Exit 9 is also available. Very odd that Sony agreed to offer this game on the store.
I played this on PC and I enjoyed it. It's pretty short but it's fun to figure out and see all of the different clues... some creepy, some not so much. I might buy it again if it has a platinum
@BeerIsAwesome GT7 awaits you. I have sunk endless hours into that and No Man's sky. Intending to start the resident evil games this weekend. Or half Life Alyx since I just got it set up for my PC last night.
